I'm still in a rut, but I hope to do something about it tomorrow. After all, there are still six days left in november - that's loads of time!

Write an entire novel in a month?
Who would be crazy enough to try to do such a thing?
Well, there's a growing number of crazy people doing just that this month, November 2004.
NaNoWriMo is now underway and this is where I have decided to attempt to write mine. I chickened out last year, but told myself I would definitely take part in 2004. If all goes well, I should be posting 50,000 words worth here during November 2004.
The clock is ticking.
Given the velocity of writing involved in this crazy project I wouldn't be surprised if at the end of the month I have a load of gibberish, but who knows? I have my story, and plan to keep notes on how things are going and how the story is developing here.
Here's the blurb if you're interested in reading as I write:
AD2024. The Earth's resources are running out and the Environment is becoming more hostile every year. The world has become polarised between the haves and the have nots. Those who are privileged, who are lucky enough, who are be able to afford it, live in an environment where their every need can be catered for. A smart chip, implanted in every legal citizen's upper forearm has superseded the need for identification, credit cards, money, passwords, keys, etc. It is the perfect solution for a comfortable life.
Jay Gee is one many insiders, people who live permanently under protective cover, living and working without ever leaving the connected world of concrete tunnels that is The City. Jay is an extreme example. For five years now, he has never left his building; indeed he has hardly left his flat. His life is turned upside down by the death of his mother and the subsequent re-encounter with a long lost friend, who finally persuades Jay to leave his sheltered world, in order to meet her. However, this first trip outside doesn't turn out as planned.

LOL - that's the NaNo spirit.
Seriously, if you don't think you're going to make it, don't give up. Keep going on till Dec 5th, or try and get it done before the year is out.
Ah. makes me wish I was doing it this year. Hell or high water for 2005 - I'm going to be there with my keyboard primed. And maybe I'll talk maRia into doing it as well. She helped me out last year and I think she deserves to give herself a chance of doing it.

You're absolutely right Stompy - I'm not going to make it, but my ambition now is to a) make it to 25,000 words by the end of November and b) finish before the end of the year.
If I can do that I'll be happy.
Now I'm hooked - if you and MaRia want to do it, why wait until November? Why don't we start an alt-Nano and do it in January/February? If we encourage each other as you two have done to me, it'd be great.
